The
Spastics Centre Kanpur, has undertaken pioneering services for
rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy and multiple
disabilities. This is a programme outside the scope of
hospital treatment, and fulfills a felt need of children
stricken at birth by brain damage, a condition known as
spasticity. Lacking knowledge and guide-lines, parents often
try to cope with the problem on their own, and feel sad and
frustrated when they see no improvement.
Since it
was established in 1990, the Centre has helped scores of
disabled children and their families from all sections of
society besides generating public awareness of birth injuries
and related problems of physical disability in children.
